MovingPictures 27: Walk Tall

There are moments when I look out and feel like there’s a whole Horizon of Stupid looking back. That feeling can be shortened by music, and this week’s example – and the first music on here for a while – is Walk Tall by Cannonball Adderley, in the version introduced by Rev Jesse Jackson. It’s a great piece of music, but a great intro too, that needs no explanation or addition from me. He ends:

"...No matter how dreary the situation is, and how difficult it may be, the storm really doesn't matter, until the storm begins to get you down. So my advice to you, the message that the Cannonball Adderley quintet brings to us is that it is rough and tough in this ghetto, a lot of funny stuff going down, but you got to walk TALL. WALK TALL. WALK TALL."
